What's New From The Spring Trunk Show by Pink Door Decor

Pink Door Decor's first Spring Trunk Show benefiting the Crohns and Colitis Foundation was a huge success. The goal of raising the awareness of this disease was met.  Here's a look at some of the pictures from the event.   To learn more about Crohn's Disease, go to www.ccfa.org.

The entire salon (1245 Salon and Spa) styling room was transformed into Pink Door Decor's show room for the day.  I completed the makeover on the salon last November.  Scroll through my blog posts to see the transformation.

My personal photographer for the show G-Dab Photography did a fantastic job capturing the beauty of Pink Door Decor's home accessories. Make sure you log on over the next few weeks to see all of the images from the show.  To see an inventory of a few items from the show log on to What's New

Succumb To Succulents by Pink Door Decor

Succulents are becoming some of the most popular plants for two reasons: they are uniquely beautiful and pretty indestructible for those who do not have a green thumb.

You've seen these plants displayed individually or mixed with other arrangements.  Two of the most well known succulents are the aloe and agave plants.

Photo from Eurica

Succulent plants such as this aloe store water in their leaves so for those of us who do not have a green thumb and forget to water our plants, they are idea.  You do, however want to make sure you follow the guidelines for caring for this plant. You cannot completely neglect it. Numerous online sites can share proper care for this durable plant.  I think some of these plants are absolutely beautiful for their variety-flowering and non-flowering characteristics.

So, this summer dare to be different. Venture out and succumb to a beautiful succulent plant.

Pink Door Decor's Spring Home and Color Style Trunk Show

What's great about having your own company is you get to decide who you want to support.  Every year, I select one foundation that I feel is making a difference in the community and changing the lives of others. This year, I am excited about supporting the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America.

In December 2013, my thirty-one year old nephew died from complications due to Crohns disease.  For this reason, I have a personal affinity for the foundation.  He would have wanted others to be aware of this silent disease. You can't look at a person and know that they suffer from Crohns, but so many of the people who have the disease are in pain.  Pink Door Decor will donate a portion of the sales proceeds from an upcoming trunk show to the foundation. If you are in the Atlanta area on
April 13th, come out and support a worthy cause.

Favorite Oscar Red Carpet Looks by Pink Door Decor

The Oscar's brought out some fabulous looks tonight.  One of my favorite moments of the night is the red carpet fashions.  Since most of the men usually look dapper in there tuxedo's, I will focus on the variety in women's wear.  Here are my favorite picks for the evening in no particular order. All of the ladies rocked the red carpet!

I love the detail on this dress worn by Lara Spencer from Entertainment Tonight.  This may be my favorite!

Congratulations to Lupita on her Oscar win.  She's also a winner in this dress, although I do think the neckline would look best on someone with a fuller chest.

Sandra Bullock looks stunning in this gown. Ravishing!

Red is a great color on Bette Midler. The fit is flattering on he figure and I love the detail on this gown.

Charlize Theron looks great in anything she wears. This sizzles even in black!

Robin Roberts looks simply elegant!

The lady in red, Jennifer Lawrence rocked in this red dress. Her hair and jewelry were on point and didn't take away from her sizzle.

Viola wins in this gown because she has discovered her best color. She glows in emerald green!

Who wore your favorite look from the Oscars?

Random Acts of Kindness by Pink Door Decor

This week in Atlanta was one of unexpected struggles and circumstances.  People were stranded on highways and byways in a situation they never imagined, due to snow storm Leon. I could elaborate on the fact that America was laughing at us because of the two inches of snow we received that shut down the entire city.  Need I remind you that  we live in the south, seldom get snow, and most people cannot drive on ice, not just those who live in the south. You can read news articles and get several opinions on what happened last week.

It was the unexpected that I think brought out the best in all of us, including the random acts of kindness that were experienced by many of us, including myself.  I heard stories of strangers allowing children and bus drivers to sleep in their homes because they were stranded out in the cold.  I sat in traffic for three hours on a trip that would normally take me ten minutes.  I followed my intuition and made it to the Lenox Mall parking lot and walked to the closest hotel, the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead, Atlanta.  I did not want to run out of gas driving my normal 30 mile commute.

The Ritz Carlton sold out of rooms and I was prepared to hang out in the lobby the entire night. I had no where to go.  If I am outdating myself, so be it,  but I would like to give a big thanks and shout out to the Ritz for not once questioning anyone on the length of time they hung out in their  lobby. They allowed stranded passengers to sleep in their lobby.  Yes, the Ritz Carlton is a class act. The hostess confirmed that the bar made more money on that night than New Years  Eve (they are still a class act).

Here's where my story becomes surreal. Another woman and I were talking all night; both of us were stranded and prepared to sleep in the lobby.  Kristi, the other stranded woman and I started talking to a woman from Los Angeles, Damiana, who was in Atlanta filming a movie. Damiana, said to us that she would offer her room but she only had one bed.  Several hours later, Damiana, came back to Kristi and I and said we were welcome to stay in her room.  She had a change of heart or just realized we were harmless and needed a place to sleep.  I was grateful that I managed to find a warm place to stay that night because many adults and children were stranded in their cars for hours.  I was even more grateful that this woman felt it in her heart to offer her room to two strangers.

I allowed myself to receive this random act of kindness without hesitation, a first for me.  Thank you Damiana and all of those who reached out to strangers during Atlanta's 2014 snow storm.

Staying In Bed by Pink Door Decor

Today has been officially labeled lazy Sunday.  I stayed in bed all day.  I suppose I needed the rest because I have been suffering from a terrible cold.  Sometimes you just need to take a day for rest and that I did.   If your sleeping sanctuary looked like these beautiful bedrooms, everyday could turn into a lazy Sunday.

The fireplace is my favorite feature in this bedroom.

The large wall mirror is perfectly placed, reflecting the morning sun.

This room has a coastal feel.

I'm a sucker for pops of color!

Seating For Him by Pink Door Decor

Today was market day and what caught my attention the most were all of the fabulous chairs "For Him".  All of these chairs would look great in an office or as an accent in any focal corner of a room.

All are funky stylish chairs that create three totally different looks.
What do you think?
Which look fits your personality?
