A Man's Lamp
The silhouette of this lamp and black linen shade give it a masculine feel so I
could totally see this in a bachelor's penthouse living room.

Softening a Room
Soften your room by adding a variety of pillows to any bedding or seating arrangement. Not only will the pillows take the edge off but it can add just the right pop of color.

LIGHTING PLACEMENT...ONE LAMP OR TWO?
In a previous blog that discussed the mood lamps create in a room, we didn't get into the discussion of where you should place these mood provoking objects. When I am designing a room, I make sure we create light diagonally across the room. On one side of the room, you could place a table lamp on a stylish side table and place the matching floor lamp diagonally on the opposite side of the room.
Take a look at these hot pieces found on http://www.pinkdoordecor.com/. Both sets of lamps provide a feng shui element to any room...water and metal. We will discuss elements in a room in upcoming blogs.
Until we blog again, have fun changing the light placement in your living space.

WHO SAYS PICTURES MUST BE HUNG ON A WALL?
There are many ways we can display wall hangings. Limiting your displays to just the walls can become monotonous. Why not utilize the center window molding to hang a picture? This effect gives you a sense of bringing the outside into a room. You also create a floating effect with your hanging. I have a clock and a picture hanging from the window frame in my office. Everyone who enters my office ask, " How did you hang that picture?" This has surely created interesting conversation. Just a word of advice when you try this technique. You must mount the top and bottom of the hanging to create stability.
Another place I found interesting to display art is in a non-functioning fireplace. Yes, a fireplace! During summer months, people place candles in the fireplace. Why not art?
The pictures below will definitely make you feel like you are bringing the outside into a room. Give it a try. The next time you want to hang a piece of art, try the center molding of your window.
You can find these beautiful hangings on the website of www.pinkdoordecor.com
