The first sacrifice you made is accepting the fact that you just might have war wounds after giving birth to your bundle of joy. I still have mine after giving birth to my second child. What might those wounds be, you might ask? Bruises and stretch marks! I have a huge bruise that has taken over ten years to fade away (actually, I can still see it slightly). Every time I look at it, I think about my baby girl.
I start with a first, but there are many seconds, thirds and fourths mom's give up for their children. So I will share my personal list that really aren't sacrifices when you think about the joy your children bring.
- Sleep~ Especially on Christmas morning because they want to wake up early to open presents when you are trying to catch a little more shut eye.
- Time~ No longer do you have time to yourself. Much of this is given up for them, but isn't it worth your while, especially when you choose to attend their dance recital or swim meet over hanging out with your girlfriends. The look on their faces when they see you showing up to their event is priceless. Your friends have to sometimes take a backseat to your children.
- Money~ Your treat of a handbag or a pair of shoes when you get paid goes to weekly daycare fees or in my case, dance lessons for my daughter. When I look in my closet, I have enough shoes that could not substitute my little girl asking me to check out her new routine for her upcoming dance recital.
For all of the sacrifices you make for your children and families, today, we honor you!
Until next time,
