See How Window Treatments Make a Difference!

In the interior design world or at least the design world according to Terrell Dinkins, "The room is not ready until the windows are dressed."  I certainly believe you can take a simple room and transform it when you dress the foot and head or bottom and top.  I like to think of the foot or bottom of the room as the floor covering and the head or top of the room as the window dressing.

It is the window dressings, however that draws you in and captures your eye. The windows complete a naked room.

Once the custom window treatments were added to this room, it came alive.  Before I brought in the window treatments, the client was using the temporary paper shades that you find at your local Home Depot.  The temporary light filtering shades will run you around twenty bucks for a box of four.   They are great for temporary use until you decide what you want to place in your windows, but they definitely are not very eye catching.

Just imagine this window without draperies.  Yes, the walls have custom art and the chase has a nice bright throw pillow, but without the draperies, you could feel that something was missing in this corner of the room.

Soft, cream, linen fabric was selected to brighten up the dark painted walls.  Chocolate banding was selected to tie in the chocolate accents in the room

How are you dressing your windows and adding the finishing touches to your space?  I would love to hear from you and see your pictures.

Until next time,

All Things Marsala-Pantone Color of 2015

I am very excited about Pantone's Color for 2015.  It's a very sexy color that both men and women can rock with flair and sophistication. It reminds me of my favorite red wine, Sweet Chocolate Rouge (maybe I'll talk about wines in my next blog).

When Pantone speaks, every one listens and you begin to see a flurry of this color everywhere you go, especially in the fashion world. This week on my Facebook page, I will share a few of my favorite looks and things using beautiful and rich Marsala! Make sure you like and follow me on Facebook @pinkdoordecor.

What do you think of the color of the year?

Latest In Contemporary Lighting

If you are not using lamps in your decor, you are missing the boat on one of the most creative ways to decorate your space.

Not only do lamps create the obvious-light.  Lamps also create ambience and sets the mood to a room. Who needs candles when you can create the same cozy effect from a lamp.

Ahhh, besides the light, we cannot forget the art effect of lamps.  They no longer look like the ones we found in our granny's house burning kerosine (am I dating myself).  Lamps are works of art and add interest to a table or dark corner of a room.  I am featuring some of my favorites from Uttermost and found on Pink Door Decor.

So, what do you think? A work of art-yes!

Until Next Time

What's On Your Menu for Super Bowl Sunday?

I am sure many of you are heading to a party to cheer on your favorite team for the super bowl.  Drive safe and make sure you have a designated driver if you decide to partake in a few libations!
I am more interested in what's on the menu.  I love great party foods and the entire set up and ambience of a fun gathering.

I will admit that today was my first time making the all famous Rotel Dip with seasoned ground turkey.  It was a big hit and quite tasty.  This will definitely be on my next party menu.  I used my slow cooker as opposed to the microwave, that was one of the cooking suggestions on the back of the Rotel Tomatoes and Chiles.

If you are serving a big group, you want to make sure you have a few great trays for serving.  These trays from Pink Door Decor are casual and perfect for a Super Bowl Party.

I would love to hear about your favorite dish for the big game!

Until next time!
