Your Mood and Lighting...The Connect

As we continue our lighting series, I want to leave you with just one thought that just might change your mood:

“There’s a visceral connection between our surroundings and our mood, and the amount and quality of light is the first element that dictates those moods.”

Lighting a Room with Lamps The Right Way

I first must make a confession when it comes to lamps. I have them in every room in my house, with the exception of the bathroom and workout room (even though I am not opposed to having them in the bathrooms). I love the mood lamp lighting creates, on top of the fact that they can make quite a statement to any room.

Underneath Cabinets

This lamp is perfect for creating a nightlight in your kitchen by placing it underneath the cabinets.  It will also look fabulous lighting hallways or even in bathrooms because of it's petite height. One of my favorite lamps at Pink Door Decor.

Adding style to your desk will create punch.  This compact task lamp is adjustable at the arm and head, making reading at your desk easy. It works better as a desk reading lamp than a corner reading lamp in your bedroom because of it's height. The vintage silver finish compliments the style on this lamp.

Table lamps and floor lamps are a key source to lighting a room. Selecting lamps versus picking out overhead lighting (track, canned, chandeliers) is an easy option for everyone, however there are many things to consider before purchasing. For example, will the light shine directly in your eyes while you are sitting next to the lamp. Will the shade color create the brightness and color you desire in the room? Make sure if you decide to only use lamps in your room, all sides of the room are lit. Lamps are enhancements to overhead lighting.  Too many lamps take away from the coziness of using only a few lamps.

The Conversation Piece

OK, this is the big reason why I love lamps. They can be a piece of art and interesting fixture on a table or shelf. They will surely create a conversation from your guest as well as an added light source to a dark corner or room.
Share with us how you use lamps.  Do they make a statement or just serve as a lighting source?
